Lincoln 4ths XV 18 Skegness 2nds XV 12

In an exciting league encounter at Lincoln, Skegness 2nd XV’s winning run came to an end after a tremendous game which saw the blue and whites within minutes of victory.

Skegness put up an admirable display after a shaky start. Some handling errors in key defensive areas saw Skegness facing a 10 point deficit after 30 minutes.

However through strong running by Bignell, Wilkinson and Cummings, admirably supported by wingers Hummell and Hardy, a fightback looked on the cards.

Persistent work from Hansen and Schofield saw Skegness pull five points back through Sean Bignell.

Spiers dominated the line out ably supported by Stennett and Tasker,

This gave rise to another score from Bignell, touching down after some tireless running.

Lincoln now 10-12 down, came back hard at Skegness who defended with some solid tackling from Spikings and debut player Phelpps, helped Skegness maintain the lead.

However in the dying minutes of the game, Lincoln scored twice to take the honours.

A strong display from the side proved not enough to take all the points but it does keep them in second place in the league. This Saturday, Skegness 2nds entertain North Hykeham, at Wainfleet Road in a 2.15pm kick-off.
