The Skegness Ladbrokes Darts League held its Summer League presentation evening at the Marine Boathouse recently along with the league singles and blind draw pairs competitors.
With 28 entering the singles and 32 in the pairs, Carla Smith was drawn out with Martin Bell in the first game playing Steven Emsen and Bill Proom.
It was the duo of Bell and Smith that won this game 2-1 to set up a second round match up against Natalie Weston and Russ Millar.
Nat and Russ edged this one to set up a semi-final clash against Nat’s partner Carl Abbiss and Matt Reeson.
A close game followed with the underdogs,Nat and Russ winning 2-1 to book their place in the final.
Their opponents were to be Rob Hewson and Darrell Webb, who dispatched Hob and Gary Garton in the first round, Daniel Starkey and Shaun Drury in the quarter final and Phil Lonslow and Gary Muir in the semi-final,
The Final once again was a closely contested game and it was the all male pair who just held on to gain a 2-1 win.
Quite a large field took to the oche in the singles.
The first round matches saw team mates Chris Fletcher take on Dave Manson.
Chris took the first leg but it was Dave throwing like he used to that took the game 2-1.
Nat found Darrell Webb too good as he won 2-0.
Martin Bell the faced Rob Hewson and it was Rob who held on for a 2-1 win.
The second round saw Darrell beat his team mate Barry Grenfell 2-1, Carl Abbiss took on Lee Yates and dished out a 2-1 beating, Dave Manson still throwing from memory beat Shaun Drury 2-1.
In the quarter-finals Matt Reeson found Mark Forman too good, Gary Garton beat Dave Manson 2-0, Rob Hewson beat Darrell Webb 2-0 and in the final game, Carl Abbiss beat Kristian Thein.
Carl then came up agginst a formidable Gary in the semi final and it was Gary who booked his place in the final with a 2-0 win.
His opponent was to be Rob Hewson as he brushed aside Mark Forman 2-1 to book his place in his second final of the night.
What a final it was as the match ebbed and flowed with Gary playing with a chest infection, but he didn’t let it bother him, as he edged a cracking final 3-2.
The league thanks all the players and Natalie Weston for running the raffle on the night.
Roll of honour for the summer season sees the Sid Dennis and Sons Ltd Division One go to champions Marine A, runners up were Wainfleet Outsiders with the High Finish going to Sam Hewson wit a score of 161.
The Sid Dennis and Sons Ltd Division Two Championship was claimed by Finnegans. Runners-up were Liberal Lads with the high finish going to Bob Millar for scoring a 137.
Singles Champion was Gary Garton with runner-up spot going to Rob Hewson
In the blind draw pairs Darrell Webb claimed the honours with Natalie Weston and Russ Millar runners-up.
The Winter League has now also kicked off with two Knockout Cup prelims.
The Welcome Hillbillies dished out a 10-2 beating over Cricket Club and Liberal Adams Family took on Vine and looked in control as they led 4-2 after the singles with a 180 from Pete Sandford, but the Vine fought back taking all the doubles and the match 8-4
Also, week six in the www.marineboathousedartsseries.com took place and it was Mablethorpe player Simon Stainton who won through to finals weekend in April, making all six so far from Lincolnshire.
