In the Ladbrokes Darts League’s Sid Dennis and Sons Division Two, the Ex-Service ‘C’ travelled to Welcome Anchors and raced into a four-nil lead before the Anchors woke up, taking the last two singles.

However their response was short lived as the Ex-Service then rattled off all the doubles to get the result, ten-two, to continue their resurgence.

Leaders Liberal Lads took on Vine and were five-one up after the singles, with A Jobes getting the only point against the Liberals’ league veteran M Peech. The Vine took the first pairs, but the Liberal won the remaining two to get the result nine-three.

Basement team WMC Aces took on Liberal Us and moved off the foot of the table thanks to a narrow seven-five victory.

Royal Oak took on Welcome Hillbillies and it was all square after the singles it was the Oak who took the initiative in the pairs, taking the first two before losing the last to come away with the result seven-five keeping up their title aspirations.

The final game in this division saw Finnegans travel to Cricket Club, and looked to be in control leading four-two after the singles.

However the Cricket Club had other ideas and took the first two pairs to set up a nailbiting finale which saw Finnegans take the last pairs to gain a six-all draw.

Liberal Lads still head the division on 12 points with Finnegans second on 11 and Royal Oak next on ten.

In the Sid Dennis and Sons Division One the blind draw pairs competition took place this week at the Ex-Service.

Some interesting pairs were thrown together with Steelers’ S Wilson and Cobras’ R Bettison being one of the favourites. They cruised through the early rounds, beating S Lewellyn and B Grenfell, and then S Wolstenholme and K Wilson without dropping a leg.

Another pair expected to do well were Cobras team mates B Holdsworth, and T Smith who defeated T Warry and T Holland in the first round and then beat Hob, and C Abbiss in the next to book their semi final berth.

Another pair of team mates drawn out together were the Liberal Adams Family duo of R Fuller and R Collins who cruised through to the semis, defeating S Gillings and L Yates, and C Fletcher and S Kirkham without dropping a leg.

The semi finals were complete with Steelers captain I Chamberlain, and Adams Family Jenkins who beat P Evans and G Pacey in the first round then P Sanford and G Poulter in the quarter-finals.

The first semi saw the Wilson Bettison combination get a narrow win over Holdsworth and Smith. Next up was Fuller and Collins aginst Chamberlain and Jenkins, and it was the former pair who took the game two-nil.

The final between favourites Bettison and Wilson and the Adams Family pair of Fuller and Collins was another suprise result for the Adams Family boys, who won the match two-nil to go all night without dropping a leg, which in itself is a huge achievement. Hats off to to Richard Fuller and Ross Collins.

This week sees the cup quater finals take place - Liberal Adams Family v Barkham Arms, Ex-Service 501s v WMC Steelers, Ex-Service Cobras V Welcome Anchors and Finnegans v Wainfleet Outsiders
