SKEGNESS motor racer Amanda Black picked up her first classic race win of the season at the weekend.
Racing in rounds nine and 10 of the Caterham Graduates Racing Series she also bagged a fantastic double-pole during which she smashed the club’s lap record.
Her success capped a superb turn-around in fortunes for Amanda, whose car needed to be rebuilt after an accident in Anglesey during the last round.
Amanda finished seventh in race one following a close battle in which all of the front-runners crossed the line within seconds of each other.
Race two saw her start from pole again. She slipped back to sixth at one point but used slipstreams to her advantage to retake the lead.
She went on a charge and completed the next seven laps in the lead to win her first Classic race.
Amanda said: “The season has been very up and down. A double podium and a lap record at the start of the season, were followed by a visit into the pit wall at Anglesey, which didn’t help.
“It has however been an amazing turn around to comeback with a double pole and a race win.
“Big thank you to all of my supporters and believers, including Skegness Grammar School, Signs of the Times, McMillian Motorsport, and Mum & Dad,” she added.
