Cyclists bring curtain down on latest 10-mile Handicap League

ALFORD Wheelers’ final event of the 10 mile handicap league was held on Thursday evening, on the Bilsby to Sutton on Sea road.

The weather conditions were not to the riders’ liking; dull and overcast, with a cold wind keeping the times down considerably.

The winner was Phil Heyes in 24mins 10secs, with Adam Coffey runner-up in 24-21, and Mark Bembridge third (the only rider to defy the weather and produce a personal best) in 24-23.

Other top 10 times were: fourth, Paul Ridley 26-00; fifth, Stefan Bryan 26-03; sixth, Mick Pell 26-06; seventh, Ryan Thomas (under 16) 26-07; eighth, Brendon Thomas 26-09; ninth, Carl Wilkinson 27-05; 10th, Russell Lintin 27-29.

Handicap winners were: 1 Mark Bembridge (allowance 3-30) nett 20-53; 2 Stefan Bryan (allowance 4-48) nett 21-15; 3 Paul Ripley (allowance 4-19) nett 21-41; 4 Brian Culham (allowance 10-47) nett 21-49; 5 Daniel Brown (allowance 9-41) nett 21-53.
