Two members of Skegness Tri Club completed an ironman 70.3 challenge in Staffordshire.
Chris Reader and Jamie Gordon have spent the last year training for the event, which included a 1.2-mile open-water swim in Chasewater Reservoir, followed by a 56-mile bike leg through stunning countryside around Lichfield, Burton-On-Trent and Cannock Chase.
The third leg was a 13.1-mile run which started and finished at the historic Shugborough Country Estate.
Chris completed the whole event in an amazing time of 5 hours and 15 minutes.
Jamie - who completed the Ironman 70.3 event in Hawaii three weeks earlier - was unable to finish due to mechanical problems on the bike leg.
Among the participating field were Gordon Ramsay and the winner of the 4 ITU Triathlon World Championships, Francisco Javier Gomez Noya.
Chris’s next challenge is the full distance Ironman Bolton UK event taking place on July 19.
Chris is competing in these two challenges to raise cash for Cancer Research in memory of his uncle Ray and friends that he has lost through cthe illness.
