Late red card seals fate as Swifts fail to peg back hosts

Mid Lincs u13s B league

HBW V Swifts JFC

THIS week, Swifts made the trip to HBW United, and made the perfect start when CK Wilson played the ball in for Kieran Parker to tap home for Swifts.

Moments later, HBW levelled the scoreline after a brilliant lob over the advancing Swifts keeper.

The home team got themselves in front after they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Swifts box, which they converted.

With the second half fast approaching, Swifts just couldn’t find the back of the net as Kieran Parker hit the crossbar.

The roles were reversed for the second half, with the home team attacking from the off, and they were soon rewarded with a goal as Swifts failed to clear the box from an HBW corner.

With Swifts continuing the attack, the referee played an advantage after a clear handball by HBW just outside their box, and while everyone else had switched off, Ellie Cunliffe was as sharp as ever and continued the attack with success, as she narrowed the gap for Swifts with a fantastic finish.

Cameron Dunne had a goal disallowed for the visitors after he was deemed to be in an offside position.

HBW opened the gap up again with a quickfire ball seconds later to make it 4-2, which was the final score.

With seconds left on the clock, Swifts’ defender Thomas Cowell saw red as the referee sent him off for dissent.
