In the Sid Dennis and Sons Ltd Division one the WMC Aces remain without a win, as they took on Barkham Arms, locked at 3-3 after the singles with aces T Godwin hitting 171, and 133. The aces took the first pairs to lead 5-3 but then the Barkham Arms got into gear and took the last two to run out 7-5 winners.
The Ex Service Sports went down 10-2 to Wainfleet Outsiders, with Sports’ S Wolstenholme hitting 140, 133, and B Martin 120, 125, and a 124 finish in his singles win over M Bell who scored for the outsiders with 121, 125, 135, 140, and 180.
League leaders WMC steelers were away at Liberal Lads and recorded a convincing 12-0 win, M Peech 123 and 133 top scorer for the Liberal, and K Thein, 121, 139, 3x140, and 180, a 112 finish and a 15 dart leg. L Godrich 174, 180, M Thompson 121, 125, 137, and 140, all for the Steelers.
Hot on the leaders’ heels are Ex Service Cobras who beat the high flying Ex Service 501s 10-2, with C Fletcher, 137, 2 x 140, C Redford 125, 140, P Hough 2 x 135, and L Woods with 103. T Smith 2 x 140 and a 17 dart leg, P Pulham 140, 174 top, scored for cobras.
The Sid Dennis and Sons Ltd Division Two is still as tight as ever, as at the Seaview this week, we saw top versus second, as the Ex Service C were the visitors, and a cracking game followed,
Level at 3-3 after the singles, Ex Service took the first pairs to lead 5-3, and the Seaview took the last two to secure a 7-5 win and maintain top spot.
S Emsen 121, 123, 135, 140, R Subden 122 and 138, were the Seaview’s leading scorers, the in house derby at the Liberal Club, saw the Us take on the Adams family, and the Adams family recorded an 8-4 win and leapfrog the ex service into second place.
Cricket club stumped the Vine A gaining a 7-5 win with M Foreman hitting 121, 140, the Vine took the first three singles against Finnegans with help from B Davison 2 x 120 but Finnegans took the last three singles to tie the game up, before running out 7-5 winners, to move joint third, two points behind the leaders.
The final game in this division was a 6-6 draw between Welcome Hillbillies and Royal Oak, N Stocks 135 and 140 for Hillbillies, there is still only four points between the top eight teams in this division.
The quarter finals of the cup have been drawn - Cobras v B Barkham Arms, Finnegans v Steelers, Ex Service Sports v Liberal Lads, Wainfleet Outsiders v Seaview Raiders, these games to take place on Febuary 1.
As many of you are now aware, Raymond Van Barneveld will no longer be able to appear on presentation night, due to a new world series of darts event in Dubai. Organisers are, however, hoping to name the pro they have in place of him and hope to announce this next week. They don’t think people will be disapointed.
