TWO goals from Josh Whittam earned Skegness Town a creditable 2-2 draw in their opening pre-season friendly at home to Clifton FC.
The Lilywhites included new signings Tom and Pete Dickinson in their line-up and produced a promising performance against the central midlands league outfit.
Earlier in the day, a youthful Skegness Town Reserves, under the guidance of new manager Stuey Hall, beat Spilsby Town 3-2 at Burgh Road.
Ashley Rasmussen scored twice and Jimmy Whittam grabbed the third for a team whose oldest player was 25.
Afterwards, the club publicly thanked Lathan Tuplin and his troops for providing opposition at short notice as the seasiders put the finishing touches to their preparations for the Lincolnshire and Boston league campaigns.
There will be more football at Burgh Road this weekend, when the Lilywhites welcome neighbours Wainfleet United on Friday evening, kick-off 7.45pm, and the following day, Southwell City from the Abacus Lighting central midlands league supreme division will visit the seasiders, with a 3pm kick-off.
