Hockey: Long Sutton 2nds 1, Skegness Ladies 4

On Saturday, Skegness Ladies played Long Sutton 2nds away.

It was expected to be a good match and Long Sutton didn’t disappoint by scoring a textbook technique goal within the first minute.

With Skegness on the back foot from the off, they had to step up defensively and push forward.

Skegness equalised with Amy Rutter, then found their stride to win back another three goals scored by Pauline Forman, Captain Kim Fegan and another from Amy Rutter.

In a hard-fought second half, Long Sutton did all they could to grab another goal but to no avail; with some strong challenges from Skegness keeping them at bay.

Skegness triumphed with the final score 4-1 to Skegness.

The Skegness Ladies would like to congratulate former Skegness Ladies captain and Skegness Grammar school pupil and head girl, Emma Shelbourn, for her fantastic role as an umpire in the Senior International hockey Tournament, Investec Challenge, in South Africa.
