Spilsby U16s 5

Holbeach 3

SPILSBY regained their winning streak when they won an eight-goal thriller away at Holbeach.

Just two minutes into the game, the first goal was scored, after a good pass by Jordan Smith to Joe Epton, who sent the ball straight over the oncoming keeper to make it 1-0 to Spilsby.

Holbeach thought they’d equalised, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Ryan Hall was on track to score a second for Spilsby, only to be tripped over by Holbeach player.

Jack Middleton did score with a follow up shot from Jordan Smith, making it 2-0 to Spilsby.

Holbeach kept going forward but Spilsby’s defence were more determined and stronger.

Jordan Smith scored after a pass from Jordan Askew, making the half time score 3-0 to Spilsby.

Minutes into the second half, Holbeach scored to reduce the deficit to 3-1.

Spilsby picked their heads up and started to fight back, winning the ball more with lots of good tackling.

Jordan Smith laid the ball on for Curtis Redford, who composed himself well and struck a shot into the back of the net for 4-1.

Holbeach fought back and scored another two goals to make it 4-3, but with minutes to go, Jordan Smith was fouled in the box and took the resulting penalty to round off the scoring at 5-3.
