Skegness United look set for a quarter-final berth in the next round of the County Cup after their opponents failed to raise a team.
United were left kicking their heals on Saturday after Barnetby United from the Scunthorpe League cried off.
Although United are likely to receive safe passage into the quarter finals, the club said it was disappointing to miss out on the opportunity to get back to winning ways after three successive draws.
Assistant Manager Jason Smith said: “It’s nice to be in the hat for the next round but we would have much preferred to have played the game with two tough league games against Cleethorpes Town Reserves and Boston United Reserves coming up in the next two weeks.”
All at United are hoping for a big crowd this Saturday when they entertain Cleethorpes Town Reserves at Wainfleet Road in a 2pm kick-off.
The following Saturday (December 28) United travel to York Street to take on high flying Boston United Reserves. The match is also a 2pm kick-off.
Meanwhile, United’s squad will be boosted over the Christmas period with Ryan O’Loughlin, Ben Martin and Jamie Waters all likely to be involved.
