Final preparations are being made as Sills and Betteridge Lincolnshire League champions Skegness Town get ready for Saturday’s big kick-off.
On Wednesday the Lilywhites entertained former Lincs League outfit Swineshead Institute at Burgh Road.
This final warm up friendly came three days ahead of the opening fixture of the season against newcomers Market Rasen Town.
It also follows hot on the heels of Saturday’s disappointment of another postponed friendly.
This time it was the weather that intervened as the resort caught the remnants of Hurricane Bertha.
Parts of the Burgh Road ground were under water and a decision to call off was made by ground staff at 9am.
For manager Nick Chapman it has not been the best of preparations, but he is upbeat about the squad of players he has pulled together for the start of the season.
He’ll be without Joby Gowshall for the Market Rasen opener, Dan Cobb is unavailable and Jamie Epton is expected to be on cricket duty.
“We don’t know much about Market Rasen. They are new to the league this season,” said Chapman, as he gears his players up to defend the crown they sealed on the last day of the season at CGB Humbertherm.
Saturday’s kick-off will be at 3pm.
