Town fixture backlog fears
How Skegness Town begin the New Year depends largely on how they fare in the Lincolnshire Junior Cup.
Defeat in the much-postponed tie against All Star Panthers from Grimsby will leave them without a fixture on the opening Saturday of 2013.
Victory, however, will see them entertaining Barnetby United from the Scunthorpe area in the County Cup.
And, of course, if the weather prevents the All Stars Panther clash taking place on December 29, then January 5 may well be the date the seasiders finally get the last 16 tie played.
The Lilywhites’ lack of progress in the County Cup has started to cause concern that the club could face a fixture backlog towards the end of the season.
As the County Junior Cup takes precedence, any postponement moves scheduled league fixtures to later dates.
Subject to the County Cup ties being played as planned, the Lilywhites are due to meet Lincoln United Reserves at Burgh Road on January 12, followed seven days later by a trip to Lincoln to take on sixth placed Ruston Sports.
They are due to round off the month with a journey to Fulstow to take on CGB Humbertherm.
