Lincolnshire FA Junior Cup
North Thoresby 0
Skegness Town 13
Unlucky North Thoresby from Division Two of the East Lincs Combination found Skegness Town in ruthless mood in the first round of the county cup.
There were hat-tricks each for Will Britton and Daniel Reid as the Lilywhites put in a merciless performance in the north of the county.
The home side are previous winners of the tournament, but they have since slipped into the second division of the East Lincs Combination and are hardly a threat to those with county cup aspirations.
And so it proved, as the home side took a San Marino damage limitation pose and the Lincolnshire League champions plotted to break them down.
It took just three-and-a-half minutes to make the breakthrough.
Matthew Veall crossed from the left and Liam Papworth struck a volley that the Thoresby keeper couldn’t hold onto.
It was a quality finish and so was the second goal after 13 minutes when Ben Davison steered a header out of the reach of the keeper from Ashley Murrell’s right wing cross.
Daniel Reid made it 3-0, although there was a suspicion of hand ball as he swept home the first of a hat-trick haul of goals.
Reid tapped in his second after half an hour and then 10 minutes later Keiron Elliott fired in from the edge of the area after being set up by Jamie Epton.
To get Joby Gowshall more into the game he swapped with midfield teammates and just before the break he set up Josh Bartlett to make the half time score 6-0.
As he did in the first half, Papworth scored an early second half goal and then substitute Will Britton got in on the act when he made it 8-0.
With the number of efforts on goal Veall was bound to score, but he had to wait until the 66th minute to open his account.
Two minutes later Britton made it double figures with his second of the game and then Reid completed his hat-trick midway through the second half.
Not to be outdone Britton completed his treble with a 73rd minute strike and Ashley Murrell fired home the 13th of the season to round off Thoresby’s misery.
