The Richmond school's girls football team came first and second in the recent girls football tournament.

Two teams made up of girls from year five and year six of Richmond Primary School took part in a tournament hosted by Skegness Imps FC recently at Skegness’ Wainfleet Road Playing Fields.

Competing in the tournament were teams from Skegness Junior Academy, Friskney and Willoughby.

A team from Horncastle were also due to take part but did not turn up on the day.

Both teams from the Richmond were evenly matched (as their first meeting was later to prove) so a coin was tossed to decide who was the ‘A’ team and who were to be the ‘B’ team.

Team ‘A’ was made up of Grace, Hannah, Alex, Amy, Ruby and Charlie-Ann and Team ‘B’ of Millie, Holly, Ava, Jeniffer, Chloe, Olivia T and Olivia H.

Richmond ‘B’ started the tournament with a resounding 8-0 victory against Willoughby and Richmond’s ‘A’ team disposed of the Willoughby team with a 3-0 win.

Richmond ‘B’ then faced Skegness Junior Academy, again keeping a clean sheet and winning 2-0.

The ‘B’ team followed suit with two goals with no reply against Friskney.

The two Richmond teams then locked horns to battle out a scoreless draw.

Richmond ‘A’ then went on to beat Friskney by a single goal.

In their final game Richmond ‘A’ beat Skegness Junior Academy 2-0.

This meant both of Richmond’s teams were through to the semi-finals.

The ‘B’ team recovered from conceding their first goal of the morning to beat Friskney, whilst the ‘A’ team had a walkover against Skegness Junior.

The Richmond ‘B’ team then overcame team ‘A’ 2-0 to win the tournament.
