Skegness Grammar School has won the Coastal and Wolds Year Eight Football Cup after a closely contested final against Monks Dyke Tennyson College.

The team travelled to London Road Pavillions, Louth on a warm yet extremely windy Wednesday evening.

The teams not only had to battle against each other but also the weather in order to secure victory.

The first half ended in a stalemate with both teams having chances to break the deadlock, if it were not for some fine goal keeping displays the half could easily have ended 2-2.

The second half began with Skegness demonstrating composure on the ball, with a neat interchange of passing leading to them securing a corner.

Jordan swung the ball into the box and it was met by Del who headed firmly into the top corner.

Monks Dyke then took control of the game creating numerous chances but with Morgan marshalling the defensive line and Marcus commanding his box they were unable to break through.

The game ended 1-0 to bring the title home to Skegness!

Team: Marcus, Jacob, Ross, Morgan, Ellis, Oliver, Lucas, Del, Jordan, Paul, Devon, Jack and Rhys.
