SKEGNESS FC welcomed division one league leaders Saltfleet in the semi final of the Mow Dales Charity Cup.
Skegness were still without injured pair Liles and Lyal but welcomed back Akers, Reid and Richardson and started the better of the teams with Courtney, Reid and Akers all having chances to open the scoring.
The breakthrough finally came from Courtney who smashed home his first of the day after some good work by Bee.
With the ball mainly in the Saltfleet half Skegness pushed for a second and it came from their leading scorer Reid when his pace beat the defence and allowed him to round the keeper to score from an acute angle with his left foot.
Saltfleet had one good chance at the end of the first half but Soloman turned the shot over the bar.
Skegness came out confident in the second half after a dominant first half display, but Saltfleet soon rocked them with a goal only five minutes after the re-start.
Skegness responded straight away when Critchlow’s corner caused panic in the six yard box and man of the match Akers proded it home to make the score 3-1,
Saltfleet came back again, scoring two goals in a 10 minute spell to level the score 3-3 with 25 minutes to go. Manager Edgley then bought Fairburn on and changed his team around, which seemed to work as Skegness took control of the game again.
Reid fired wide before Courtney got the goal of the game bending a shot into the top corner to give Skegness a 4-3 lead, which soon became 5-3 when Critchlow tapped in after some great work by Reid.
Manager Edgley said it was another remarkable performance and result against a team that have only lost five games all season, two of those against Skegness FC.
This is now the third final Skegness FC have reached this season;
