A WIN in this top of the table clash would leave Skegness needing only three points from their remaining five games to win the league.

Recognising the importance of this title clash, Skegness got off to a great start and after only two minutes Lonslow’s cross was met by Liles who headed home.

Soon after Courtney picked the ball up 30 yards from goal and beat player after player before side footing home into the bottom corner for Skegness’s second goal.

With Hardy and Critchlow working tirelessly in midfield Donington weren’t given a minute on the ball and with 15 minutes to go Akers’ pass found Lile, whose first time lob was controlled by Reid who then volleyed home to make it three.

In the second half Skegness continued to control the game.

The back four of Lyal, Muirhead, Akers and captain Minor were in their usual strong and solid form, and prevented a team that had already scored more than 50 goals in the league this season, from getting a single one past them this time.

With 15 minutes to go Lonslow met Courtney’s cross to head home and give Skegness a deserved 4-0 win.
