Skegness United held their annual awards night on Saturday evening at Bateman’s Brewery in Wainfleet.
On a fantastic night, special tributes were paid to late chairman Geoff Farrar, the hard working committee and loyal club sponsors: BSP Holdings, Churchills Sports & Winebar, New Era Gym, ALLCARS, The Electric Centre, Skegness Water Leisure Park, Hallgate Lincs Ltd and Batemans Brewery.
The award winners on the evening were as follows:
First team awards - Players’ Player of the Year - Danny Stevens; Manager’s Player of the Year - Arron Scutt; Young Player of the Year - Luke Rayner-Mistry; Supporter Player of the Year - Danny Stevens; Top Goalscorer - Kurt Crossley; Clubman - Sam Sleight.
Reserve Team Awards - Players’ Player of the Year - Corey Cunliffe; Manager’s Player of the Year - Zach Bray; Top Goalscorer - Tom Pickett.
Despite under-achieving in the league this season, the United won the Challenge Cup in a dramatic final against Cleethorpes Town Reserves to achieve three trophies in three seasons since their re-formation.
United Manager Mark Hallam is keen to build on that recent trophy win.
He said: “It was crucial we continued our run of success as the club has got used to winning trophies.
“The fantastic job Sam Sleight has done nurturing some very promising young players in the reserves gives us reason for plenty of optimism in the years to come.
“Jason and I are very grateful to the committee for all their support, the sponsors, the supporters and of course the players for their efforts and the incredible atmosphere which has remained constant in the dressing room.”
