Saturday was a successful day for Hykeham Town, who have opened a six-point gap at the top
of the Sills and Betteridge Lincolnshire League.
While they were securing a comfortable win over neighbours Nettleham, the rest of the top half of the league were dropping points.
Second placed Boston United Reserves were edged out by county cup finalists Ruston Sports by the odd goal in five in Lincoln, while third placed Skegness Town needed a last gasp equaliser to rescue a point at Gainsborough Town.
Heckington United lifted themselves out of the bottom three with victory at Lincoln United
Reserves, while Skegness United came unstuck at Cleethorpes Town Reserves.
Even seventh placed CGB Humbertherm had the form book ripped up on their travels to Sleaford Town Reserves, where the home side held them to a draw.
Hykeham Town 5 Nettleham 0 - Hykeham’s Steven Mehta was the highest scorer of the day with a brace of goals in the 5-0 win over the Nettles.
Michael Sullivan, Robin Newman and Craig Leverett were the other scorers as Town opened a six- point advantage at the summit.
Ruston Sports 3 Boston United Reserves 2 - Shaun Booth, Gavin Mackie and Tom Cass were all on target for Sports as they beat the second placed Pilgrims by the odd goal in five.
For the visitors Aaron Eyett notched his sixth of the season and Ngoni Dongo also found the back of the net.
Gainsborough Town 3 Skegness Town 3 - Three times the Gainsborough side led and three times they were pegged back by the Lilywhites.
James Dickinson gave the home side the lead in the 20th minute, but this was cancelled out two minutes later when McCauley volleyed home a Liam Papworth cross.
Two minutes before the break Greg Andrews restored Gainsborough’s lead with a right foot shot into the top corner of the net.
Ben Davison levelled again with 20 minutes left, but Leigh Hutchinson made it 3-2 two minutes later.
Greg Andrews missed a golden chance to secure the three points and the Lilywhites took full advantage to rescue a point with a last minute goal from Liam Papworth.
Cleethorpes Town Reserves 3 Skegness United 0 - Goals from Gareth Beecham, Jacob Wilson and John Gaughan earned Cleethorpes Town their eighth league victory of the current campaign.
It was also revenge for a 3-0 reverse the Clee side suffered at United in December.
Lincoln United Reserves 1 Heckington United 2 - Heckington climbed to 11th in the table thanks to this victory at Ashby Avenue. Jack Grocock and Harry Kirwan did the damage for the visitors. Ian Ward scored the Lincoln side’s goal.
Sleaford Town Reserves 1 CGB Humbertherm 1 - Richard Meldrum scored his sixth goal of the season to earn Sleaford Town’s second string a point at home to Geof Broom’s men.
Thomas Avison was on target for the visitors.
