After the break half time substitute Will Britton wasted no time in making an impact.

Within three minutes of the re-start he fired home goal number five.

Further goals from Britton and Luke Rayner-Mistry (two) wrapped things up.

Wyberton had stepped into the breach at short notice after first Clifton, and then Moulton Harrox, had cancelled.

“We’re grateful to Wyberton for fulfilling the fixture,” said Town boss Nick Chapman, who is upbeat about his side’s strength as they prepare for the defence of their Lincolnshire League crown.

“As well as those who performed well against Wyberton we have Ben Davison, Travis Portas, Danny Stephens, Ben Drysdale and Jamie Epton to come in.

“We should be in good shape for the new season.”

Interest in the club’s move to Wainfleet Road continues to mount as work to build the new facilities gains momentum.

Sources close to the club say excitement is growing, although there is still work to be done on the playing surface before they will be in a position to play on their new grass pitch.

On Saturday Town are due to play Wadsley Bridge at Wainfleet Road, with a 2pm kick off.
