SKEGNESS United staff are “buzzing” after they unveiled another signing this week.

The club has signed former Boston United and Skegness Town skipper Joby Gowshall after beating off interest from other teams.

“Joby is a very experienced defender who will be a massive asset to the club. We feel yet again this shows our intent to sign the highest calibre players from this area,” said joint manager Mark Hallam.

“We are also delighted to announce the appointment of UEFA A Licence Coach Brian Sergeant as the club’s first team coach.

“Brian’s qualifications and experience in coaching are second to none in the local area and we feel it’s a real coup to have him on board,” he added.

Meanwhile, the club’s pre-season preparations continued last Friday when United defeated Alford Town 9-0 in a specially arranged warm-up clash ahead of their first official friendly away to Thrapston Town FC, which took place last night after the Standard went to print.

The list of scheduled friendlies are: Saturday, July 16 v Coningsby FC (Away) 3pm KO; Wednesday, July 20 v Nottingham Utd (Away) 7.30pm KO; Tuesday, July 26 v Boston Town (Away) 7.30pm KO; Saturday, July 30 v Grimsby Borough (TBC on website); Tuesday, August 2 v Spilsby Town (Away) 7.30pm KO; Tuesday, August 9 v Ilkeston Town (Home) 6.45pm KO.
