Nearly 30 junior football teams from across the region battled it out on the pitch during a popular annual six-a-side competition in Friskney recently.

Friskney FC and the village primary school teamed up once again to organise matches between 27 teams of seven to 11-year-olds on Saturday, June 29.

Pete Holland from Friskney FC, who organises the event with his wife Susan from the primary school, says the competition has grown steadily since its beginnings around 12 years ago and is looked forward to by many of the teams involved.

“They all enjoyed it and it went smoothly,” he added.

Boston’s St Thomas Primary School took the title in the large schools category, fellow Bostonians from Gipsey Bridge took the small schools prize and Old Leake Primary School took top spot in the girls competition.
