UNITED completely took the game to Borough and on 12 minutes they took the lead when Rayner-Mistry played a cross field ball to O’Loughlin whose cross was met by Kurt Crossley who scored past Garbutt in the visitors’ goal from an acute angle.
Borough drew level against the run of play when Howard brought down Waugh just inside the area and Jamie Pearson fired home from the spot.
On 28 minutes United had their own penalty when Crossley was brought down, but O’Loughlin shot wide.
On 34 minutes United regained the lead when a cross by McGuigan was missed by the defence and Kurt Crossley despatched the ball past Garbutt.
With half time approaching Crossley was again brought down in the area. He took the spot kick and completed his hat-trick.
The second half started as the first finished with United playing scintillating football.
They should have extended their lead within the first few minutes when Scutt pulled the ball back for Crossley to score but the linesman flagged for offside.
But a few minutes later Arron Scutt scored after another great run and cross from Rayner–Mistry to make it 4-1.
United scored number five on 60 minutes when O’Loughlin laid a ball to Herbie Nicholls who fired home from 20 yards.
Shortly afterwards Borough scored their second penalty of the game when again Howard brought down a visitors’ player and Pearson scored his second of the day.
United won their third penalty - the fifth of the match to be awarded by referee Dean Myhill – when Rayner-Mistry was brought down and once again Crossley scored.
On 75 minutes United had number seven when Crossley broke down the right and crossed for Ryan O’Loughlin to continue his run of scoring in all five games.
Five minutes later Adam Cowdell got his head to an exquisite O’Loughlin cross to knock it past Garbutt. Five minutes later great inter-play between O’Loughlin and Crossley resulted in the ball being played to Andy Hallam who scored from close range for number nine.
In the final minute Kurt Crossley tore through the defence and chipped Garbutt for his fifth of the afternoon.
