The Skegness Men’s Over 60s teams met with mixed fortune in the Lincolnshire Men’s Over League Division Two, writes David Newman.

At Long Sutton the B squad met stiff opposition when they won on two rinks by big scores, the rink of Keith Findley, Mac McAlindon, Rob Rankin and David Hudson’s winning 35-8, beingsupported by captain John Clarke, Alan Brooks, Dave Briggs and Peter Hopkins (31-9).

These efforts were thwarted by the home team responding with scores of 32-10 and 31-8 as the Skegness rink of Dennis Teesdale, Peter Hawkyard, Jack Bray and Graham Farndon made a winning difference by 19-15 to take the aggregate points in a 14-4 win for Skegness B (103-95).

Skegness Men’s Over 60s A squad needed a win when entertaining Sleaford in a Division Two match.

Both teams were challenging for the top of the table position and Sleaford drew clear to lead by 30 shots.

With two Skegness rinks losing heavily by 35-15 and 30-14, it was the rinks of Mac Holland, Maurice Kemp, Derek Tasker and Barry Read 32-10 and Dave Conroy, Ken Startin, John Thorold and George Curley 31-13 whose valiant efforts helped Skegness to get to within two shots 104-106 in a 14-4 points defeat.
