THE England women’s cricket team visited the area recently to raise funds for two worthy causes during a charity match.
England Captain Charlotte Edwards MBE was disappointed to see her team lose their 20-20 game against the RAF men’s team but pleased to have aided two charities in the process.
She said: “It was a good game - the score line doesn’t really reflect the standard of play on the day and we managed to put on a good show for everyone on both teams. And it’s not just about the game, it’s also about raising money for charity.”
The event raised a substantial sum for Breast Cancer Care and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
“This was our first game against the RAF but we try to do two or three charity events each year,” Edwards added.
The game was organised in association with East Lindsey Live at Louth Cricket Ground.
