Woodhall Spa Ladies 1

Alford Ladies 1st XI 12

AFTER a narrow victory over Alford’s second team last week, Woodhall played host to Alford’s first team in a distinctly different affair.

Captain Kelly Tuplin paved the way for the team when she opened the scoring from a well struck short corner.

Luan Burton followed with an excellent brace for Alford’s second and third goals.

Whilst Alford enjoyed the majority of the attacking play, it was by no means one way and Woodhall pushed forward towards the Alford defence for an opening.

Their efforts paid off when a clearance by sweeper Helen Gray struck a fellow Alford defender, resulting in a short corner which Woodhall were eventually able to convert, after their first effort was saved by defender Holly Boulton.

Undeterred, Alford continued on their mission and Jess Wood sneaked in Alford’s fourth shortly before half time.

In the second half, Alford came out more determined to play their own game and instantly increased their lead with two quick goals from young Vicky Allen, after some excellent linking play between Vicky and Caroline Vickers.

Caroline was soon rewarded for her efforts after Vicky passed to her in the D, and Caroline’s reverse strike flew past the Woodhall keeper.

Enjoying a good game at left wing, Jess Wood scored Alford’s eighth and ninth goals for her personal hat trick, again after receiving passes from Caroline Vickers.

Woodhall’s attacks were now infrequent and ably dealt with by young defenders Harriett Hanwell and Kenzie Gray.

With traffic almost one way, Kelly Tuplin went onto score three more goals to complete the display at 12–1 to a dominant Alford team.

There were good performances from Jess Wood and Caroline Vickers, but man of the match went to Holly Boulton.

Alford: Carole Jacklin, Helen Gray, Nikii Hind, Becky Murray, Holly Boulton, Tracy Le’Gate, Luan Burton, Vicky Allen, Harriet Hanwell, Kenzie Gray, Kelly Tuplin, Caroline Vickers and Jess Wood.
