Cricket club signs an international all-rounder

SKEGNESS Cricket Club has signed an international all-rounder as they prepare for the 2012 season in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League.

Having spent time training with Nottinghamshire CCC Academy, USA international Adrian Gordon joins Skegness in April as the seasiders look to fill the boots of former skipper Wade McCall.

Aussie McCall, for so long a talisman for Skegness, will not be donning the whites for Skegness this summer. Club officials hope Gordon will be the man to step into the void.

Gordon, 24, played for the USA in Italy in the 2010 World Cricket League Division Four, making valuable contributions with the ball against Tanzania (3-21), Argentina (3-25) and Italy (4-35).

He has also proved to be a big hitter in the American College Cricket Championship.

Earlier this year he graduated with a degree in Bio-molecular Science and has since been snapped up by Skegness.

The seasiders are captained by the popular Saeed Bariwala (pictured), who has returned to the club after spending a season playing his cricket in the North West of England.

They kick-off their 2012 season on April 21 at home to 2010 champions Bourne.
