Coggan cracks a hat-trick as fightback falls short

WAINFLEET United travelled to play Alford Town on Tuesday evening, and went down by a 6-4 scoreline.

Alford made a good start and led by 2-0 before Gavin Howitt scored for Wainfleet to make it 2-1.

Wainfleet manager Royston Wilkinson had to make a change when Alex Clarke was injured, and he was replaced by substitute Garry Coggan.

Alford then scored twice to lead by 4-1 at the interval, and on the restart, Alford scored again to make it 5-1.

Garry Coggan had an improved spell for Wainfleet, scoring three times for his hat-trick, to make it 5-4.

Wainfleet used substitute Phil Simpson and Ben Gilbert in the second half.

However, Alford scored again before the finish to run out the winners by 6-4.

Wainfleet’s man of the match was Garry Coggan.

WAINFLEET United played a friendly match on Saturday away against Friskney, and won 4-1.

Wainfleet had the better of play with Ben Gilbert, Michael Parnham, Royston Wilkinson and Andy Carter scoring the goals to lead 4-0.

Friskney scored a consolation goal two minutes from full time.

WAINFLEET United, played Skegness Town Reserves, of the premier division of the Boston and District league, and went down by 3-2.

Wainfleet made a good start and went one up when Gavin Howitt scored.

However, Skegness hit back and equalised to make it 1-1.

Wainfleet rallied and re-took the lead, when Michael Parnham scored with a terrific drive, to make the score 2-1 at half time.

Skegness fought back in the second half, and scored an equaliser, before scoring a third goal to win the game, with ten minutes remaining.
