South Lincs and Border League
Skegness 2nds 161 for 8
Boston 164 for 1
(Boston won by nine wickets)
Skegness 2nds suffered a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of much fancied Boston.
Despite getting off to a good start, with the opening pair of Alistair Ainsworth and Trevor Walton putting on 53, the seasiders’ total of 161 for 8 from their 45 overs was never going to be enough.
Boston had no difficulty reaching the total with both Peter Moore and Tom Baxter scoring half centuries. They crossed the line with four overs to spare.
Ainsworth was the home side’s top scorer with 60. His opening partner Walton hit 30 before he was bowled by Tom Baxter.
Boston’s batsmen were rarely troubled, although Kieran Evans departed for 25, caught by the home skipper Mark Chamberlain off Michael Jackson.
But that brought Boston captain Baxter to the crease and he built a solid partnership with Peter Moore to see the visitors home.
Moore finished on 56 not out, while Baxter was unbeaten on 68.
