Black belt joy for pair
Liam and Marcus with their awards.
Two students from Skegness Freestyle Kickboxing have earned their black belts.
The black belt grading was held at the gym on Heath Road, Skegness in front of six black belt instructors.
Marcus Upjohn, 11, and Liam Humphries, 15, were subject to a three-and-a-half hour grading where they demonstrated all techniques from the syllabus as well as a fitness test, pad and bag work and sparring.
Third Dan Black belt Chief Instructor, Ross Flay, said: “The boys did really well throughout the grading demonstrating great kickboxing skills and a high level of fitness and knowledge about kickboxing.
“They had five rounds of hard sparring against fresh opponents and they both showed Black belt spirit and determination. They trained hard to prepare for the grading and it certainly paid off on the day. I am very proud of both these lads.”
The boys were presented with their black belts and certificates at a special ceremony at the gym.
