Fish refuse to bite in rough weather conditions
DESPITE a good turnout for Skegness Pier Angling Club’s (SPAC) latest match, the rough conditions at Wolla Bank meant the fish decided not to co-operate.
Only four anglers managed to weigh in, with Corby’s Paul Marshall running out as the easy winner of the Sheffield Cup, with four flounders and a small bass for 4lb 3oz.
Paul is enjoying a rich vein of form at the moment and also won both the heaviest flat and round fish prizes, with a 1lb 1oz flounder and a 13oz bass respectively.
The next three anglers all caught a single fish; with Boston’s Mo Fendyke taking second place with a 12oz flounder. Paul Marshall’s son Tom came in third with a 10oz flounder and Kettering’s Bob Foster took fourth place with another flounder weighing 6oz.
The next SPAC match will be held on Saturday, October 13 from 3pm to 7pm at Trunch Lane, with club members fishing for the Dave White Cup.
There is also an open section, which non-members are welcome to participate in.
