Alford take points from Cambridge and Bourne

Alford started the game with a fast tempo and within two minutes of the starting whistle found themselves ahead 1-0.

The goal came after some skilful play down the left side between Luan Burton and Vic Allen culminated with the ball falling to Captain Chloe Bolland, who pushed it into the right hand corner of the goal.

The visitors equalised with ten minutes left in the first half.

Alford’s goalkeeper Carole Jacklin made several saves in a row to deny Cambridge in the second-half, however their persistence paid off after an attacking move down the left side resulted in the ball finding their centre forward who tapped the ball into the goal making the score 1-2.

Undeterred Alford stepped up the pressure on the Cambridge defence with several crosses coming in from the right hand side from Tracy Le’Gate and Caroline Vickers,

A jubilant Allen then thought she had scored an equaliser, only to see the umpire award a short corner for an earlier foul in the D.

The resulting short corner saw Kelly Tuplin’s initial strike saved by the goalkeeper and the rebound found Bolland whose goal-bound shot was deflected on the volley by Vic Allen into the Cambridge net for a deserved equaliser.

In an evenly matched game the hosts took a Vic Allen strike into half-time to lead 1-0.

Within minutes of the re-start Luan Burton skilfully worked Alford’s second before a well worked routine saw left wing Vic Allen volley the ball past the keeper for Alford’s third.

Vic Allen continued the scoring after Tuplin’s strike was spilt by the Bourne keeper - forcing it over the goal line for her hat-trick

Alford completed the game and a superior performance with Luan Burton converting from a short corner for five.
