Wheelers hold 25 mile time trial

Monday - ALFORD Wheelers held their open 25 mile time trial at Frithville last week.
Riders had to cover one lap of the Sibsey-Keal Hill Revesby circuit, having to contend with very strong head wind on the return leg along the seven mile straight through Carrington.

The winner was Ian Dalton of the Cherry Valley racing team, in 56min 3sec, with Julian Gromett (Cottingham Couriers) second in 56-37, and Stephen Wells (Lindsey Roads) third in 58-47.

Highest placed Alford rider was Craig Lamb, tenth in 1h 2m 2s, with his team-mate veteran John Potter recording a personal best for 12th place in 1-3-17, taking the age-related standards award, and also first handicap prize for good measure.

Other Alford riders were: 14th Russell Lintin 1-4-10, 22nd Arthur Middleton 1-15-39, 26th Brian Culham 1-18-24, Alan Carr 1-18-32, Stuart Walmsley 1-20-08, Ivor Worth 1-21-44, Les Brill 1-21-50.

In the latest round of the 10 mile time trial league, on the Sutton Road, the winner was John Potter, in 25-00, with Glenn Palmer second in 25-24, and Mick Pell (Skegness Wheelers) third in 25m 42s.

In the handicap section the winner was 13-year-old Peter Rothery with a massive personal best 28-36 (allowance 9m 16s) nett 19m 20s.

Runner-up was another 13-year-old, Josh Tagg (allowance 12m 10s) nett 19-47, with his father Richard Tagg third 27-52 (allowance 7-33) nett 20-19.
