Early play was mainly even, with both sides forcing corners.
Wainfleet broke the deadlock when Lee Johnson beat his marker for speed and scored with a terrific drive.

Shortly after, Wainfleet went 2-0 up when defender Andy Carter raced through and scored the best goal of the game with a screaming volley into the top corner of the net.

The Ship retaliated with the Wainfleet keeper Joe Perry making a great save to keep his goal in tact.

As Wainfleet swung back onto the offensive, left winger Michael Parnham had a piledriver superbly saved by the Ship keeper, and then Shaun Drury had a brilliant drive finger-tipped around the post.

A few minutes later, the Ship hit back and scored a good goal through Gordon Smith to reduce the arrears.

Wainfleet hit a purple patch when they scored three times in quick succession.

First to score was Lee Johnson, who outpaced his marker. Wainfleet went 4-1 up when Royston Wilkinson raced through before scoring with a terrific drive.

Wainfleet went 5-1 up when Shaun Drury dribbled his way through before blasting the ball home.

At the start of the second half, Wainfleet made a substitution when John Elsworth went on after doing a good job refereeing with Phil Jackson taking over in the middle.

Wainfleet went 6-1 up when Matthew Broome raced through to score.

Man of the match for Wainfleet was their keeper Joe Perry, who brought off some outstanding saves, especially in the second half.

Wainfleet: Joe Perry, Andy Carter, Rob Perry, Lee Bedford, Duncan Whiley, Matthew Broome, Royston Wilkinson, Phil Simpson, Michael Parnham, Shaun Drury, Lee Johnson; sub, John Elsworth.
