REVENGE is sweet! So says Wainfleet United after beating Skegness WMC with a 6-0 victory at the weekend making up for when their rivals had beaten them 3-0 in a previous encounter.

The match at Burgh was an excellent display of attacking football, and the goal-scorers were Ashley Rasmussen with a hat-trick, Phil Simpson with two and Royston Wilkinson with one.

Wainfleet Utd: Joe Perry, Andy Campbell, Andy Carter, Rob Perry, Duncan Whiley, Shaun Drury, Wes Sutton (capt), Royston Wilkinson, Phil Simpson, Ashley Rasmussen, Rob Jackson, and substitute Tom Bone.

The team's latest success follows an impressive line-up of recent friendly victories, including beating The Ship at Ingoldmells 6-1, with scorers Lee Johnson (2), Andy carter, Royston Wilkinson, Shaun Drury and Matthew Broome.

They also beat Skegness Town Reserves 3-0 with goals by Lee Johnson (2) and Shaun Drury.

Wainfleet will start the new season in the Boston and District League on Saturday against Nortoft Utd in division one.

Players meet at the Royal Oak, Wainfleet.

The team wishes to thank Tina Drury and manager John Elsworth for their fundraising efforts for the club.
