Title hungry Skegness frustrated by weather

Wednesday, 11.06am - AFTER a frustrating opening day of the new season, Skegness hope to get their first taste of competitive cricket of the year this weekend with a double bill of matches.
On Saturday Appleby Frodingham are the visitors to Richmond Drive for the Lincolnshire League Premier Division clash (1pm start).
On Sunday the seasiders travel to Metheringham in the Bewes Brown Cup, a competition in which they reached the semi-finals last summer.
The visit of Scunthorpe-based Appleby Frodingham will give Skegness followers the chance to see new overseas player Tim Pashen, pictured, in action.
The 20-year-old wicket keeper batsman from Melbourne is expected to make his debut.
Last Saturday Skegness were due to open their 2008 campaign with a trip to local rivals Horncastle, who stepped up into the Premier Division by winning Division One last season.
But the wicket was waterlogged and the match had to be cancelled.
Under league rules this means that both sides are awarded five points.
This is little consolation to the Skegness players who felt they lost out on the league title last year because they had more games rained off than their rivals.
