Skegness back to winning ways

Thursday - SKEGNESS got back to winning ways in style with a six wicket victory over neighbours Horncastle at Richmond Drive.
Horncastle 51 all out
Skegness 53 for 4
(Skegness won by six wickets)
The seasiders were just too strong for the Premier Division newboys, who were struggling on seven for four after seven overs.
Skipper Wade McCall led from the front, taking seven wickets as the visitors crumbled, using up only half of their allotted overs.
Even the normally prolific Chandrasekara failed to get off the mark before being caught by Saheed Bariwala during Steve Kirkham's third over.
The only batsman to put up any resistance was the right handed Greaves, who pulled McCall to the youth centre boundary in consecutive balls during the skipper's eighth over.
But he ran out of partners and was eventually caught by Jamie Epton in the slips.
Chasing a target of 52 to win, Skegness were far from convincing and opener Tim Pashen was bowled by Smith on the last ball of the first over, without bothering the scorer.
Bariwala, Tony Santini and Sean Chamberlain fared little better, but Peter Houghton steered the home side to the maximum 20 points in the 12th over.
It was a short game, but it was a result that the seasiders will take heart from after their disappointment at Alkborough seven days earlier.
