Monday - SKEGNESS Town were unceremoniously dumped out of the Challenge Cup by high-riding Lincoln United Reserves at a windswept Ashby Avenue on Saturday.
Lincoln United Reserves 6 Skegness Town 1
Both sides were hampered by the blustery conditions, and while some will consider this a flattering scoreline, the young Lincoln players were rewarded for adapting better to the conditions.
Lincoln broke the deadlock when a free kick was floated into the Skegness penalty area and forced home by Sean Wright.
The home side soon doubled their lead when Alex Knibbs latched onto a through ball and lobbed the advancing Martyn Bunce.
While up against the elements Skegness were not without their chances and a snapshot by Starkey was well saved by the Lincoln keeper.
The woodwork saved Skegness when a cross-cum shot came back from a post, but Knibbs added his second while the Skegness defence was in disarray.
Just before the break United made it 4-0 when a corner kick by Tom Myatt was assisted by the wind, drifting in at the far post.
Early in the second half Skegness breathed life into their game with a Starkey tap-in following Brown's cross.
But Knibbs completed his hat-trick when he turned home a right wing cross midway through the second half.
And the scoring was completed in the final minutes when Josh Schofield made it 6-1.
On Saturday Skegness are at home to Smiffy's from the Gainsborough area in the second round of the Lincolnshire Junior Cup (kick-off 2.15pm).
Skegness Town Reserves, who lost 1-0 at Kirton Town in the Boston League on Saturday, are on their travels again this weekend, when they visit North Sea Camp in the Premier Division.
