Skegness welcomed Ollerton for the first league game of the season last Saturday.
The lines on the pitch had not been marked sufficiently for the referee, which hampered Skegness' preparations.
The front row of Cummings, Murray and Welsh continued to impress from the first whistle. Unfortunately Murray was forced from the field with an ankle injury so T. Hill was given an early entrance to the game.
The back row of Bignell, Pearson and last season's captain Machin produced three tries of their own. Pearson scored all three on his first team league debut. Bignell and Machin were also instrumental in the creation of a number of Skegness' 11 tries.
The halfback pairing of Divilly and Halliday again created problems for the opposition. Quick recycled ball, from the pack enabled them to spread the ball to the impressively speedy back line. One such move gave Divilly a try as Cameron's wide run found Bignell who gave the scrum half the ball to score.
The centres scored four tries between them and for once Smith scored the hat-trick, not Haigh. Both players tormented the Ollerton back line and broke the gain line on a number of occasions. Smith was later voted man of the match.
The back three of Kime, Pollock and the new winger Cameron all had impressive games. Only Kime was unable to cross the whitewash.
A. Hill replaced Kime on the wing and he scored a well-worked try that involved a number of players from one to 15. The extra points came from Halliday who kicked two conversions and Smith who kicked four.
Next week Skegness entertain All Spartan in the first cup game of the year.
Team: Cummings, Murray (T. Hill), Welsh, Spiers (Horner), Jackson, Bignell, Pearson, Machin,
Divilly, Halliday, Kime, Haigh, Smith, Cameron, Pollock, (Johnson).
