Sunday - CHILDREN from nine primary schools in the Alford area took part in a Try Golf activity day at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Alford.
The event was held by the Lincolnshire Coastal Schools Partnership and was run by students from the grammar school, John Spendluffe Technology College, Alford, and Tennyson High School, Mablethorpe.

Schools sports co-ordinator Hazel Dewar organised the event.

Partnership manager Pauline Yemm said: "It was a festival of golf to encourage people to take up the activity.

"If they experience it in primary school it gives them the opportunity to take it further at secondary school. We do it with lots of activities, not just golf."

The partnership works with 41 schools in East Lindsey and is keen to teach students skills in different sports as well as coaching and organisational skills.

The event was such a success it is hoped the event will be repeated next year.
