Wednesday, 12.56pm - SKEGNESS Pier Angling Club (SPAC) held their fourth match of 2008 from Chapel Six Marsh, with anglers competing for the Ex-Service Cup.
This was the first occasion that the new system of converting length to weight had been used, with top local angler Alan Steadman showing his skill at catching larger fish.

He ran out an easy winner with a lesser spotted dogfish, a nice cod and a small whiting, for a total weight of 6lb 4oz. Alan also took the heaviest round fish award for the cod, which weighed in at 4lb 4oz.

In second place was another local angler Dave Bradley, who used his in-depth knowledge of the venue to winkle out a whiting and another dogfish for 2lb 2oz.

Dave was closely followed by in-form Dave Shorthouse, who made the journey from Northampton worthwhile, taking third place with a dogfish and a small brill weighing 2lb 1oz. The heaviest flatfish award went to Russ Taylor, for a nice flounder that weighed exactly 1lb.

The next SPAC match will be on May 11 from the old boat compound, fishing from 8am-noon for the Bateman Cup. Information: club secretary Chas Tibble on 07984 967988.
