Wednesday, 9.25am - SKEGNESS Town under 18s finally had their 100 per cent league record spoilt – on their final fixture of the season.

St Helens (Skellingthorpe) 4 Skegness Town 1

The young Lilywhites, already crowned champions after registering 17 wins out of 17, couldn't clinch the final one when they travelled to second placed St Helens.

They had scraped through by the odd goal on a number of occasions this season, but travelling to St Helens with a weakened side was just asking for trouble.

However, league officials were present at Sunday's game to hand over the league championship trophy and their medals to the Skegness players. St Helens sportingly applauded the seasiders as they left the field.

Plans are now afoot to organise a presentation event in their home town to help them celebrate this success.

St Helens led 2-0 at the break and added to this tally early in the second half before Ben Drysdale scored a beauty of a goal from 30 yards.

The under strength Town continued to struggle and conceded a fourth goal before the final whistle.
