Friday - SKEGNESS bowler Ian Morris won the open singles contest at the Skegness Over 55 Bowls Tournament in North Parade, Skegness, on Friday.
Mr Morris, from Skegness Foreshore Bowls Club, beat Alan Irving, from Alford, in the final, to win £600, a Jolly Fisherman figurine and the JKB shield, sponsored by Skegness, East Coast and Wolds Hospitality Association.

Mr Morris came close to a double success by reaching the final of the Hewisons Supermarket and Beachlands Tea Room Open Triples with teammates Paul Cameron and Pete Duke.

But they lost out to club colleagues Anne Orton, Rob Millar and Jim Orton, who won the final with his last bowl.

In the open pairs contest, sponsored by Fantasy Island and Flogas UK, Bill Bateman, of Alford, and Mick Edwards, of Ingoldmells, reached the semi-finals but lost out to eventual winners Dave Breen and Tony Jayes, of Hucknall.
