FRISKNEY racer Dave Patrick was awarded members' member of the year at Mablethorpe and District Motor Club's annual presentation evening.

The trophy was voted for on the night and reflected Dave's acheivement in winning an event outright in 2007 in his two-wheel drive Opel Manta, built and maintained himself, against more powerful and better funded opposition.

After receiving the award, Dave said: "This is a big surprise. There are many more worthy club members than myself but I appreciate the acknowledgement of that wonderful day last year.

"I will probably not get such a result again but the enjoyment is in trying."

Club chairman Gerry Blythe said: "Mablethorpe and District Motor Club continues to lead the way in the East Midlands and it is superb that club members voted for Dave as members' member.

"He has put the club back at the top of the timesheets as well."

Other trophies presented on the night by president Pete Cammack were: stage rally championship winners Jamie Elston and Shaun Ridlington, of Grantham; road rally championship, Mick Smith, of Burgh le Marsh, and Rhiannon Blythe, of Lincoln; lady member of the year Claire Blythe, of Louth.
