Tuesday - THANKS to a solid team effort, the Millers finally registered a first league win of the season away at Brocklesby Park, defeating their hosts by four wickets.
East Lindsey Cricket League
Burgh v Brocklesby Park
In recent years, this fixture has been dominated by attritional cricket and this Saturday afternoon was to perpetuate the trend.
Put in, Brocklesby lost key batsman Strange second-wicket down, snaffled by Giles at deep gully, and, thereafter, shackled by accuracy, a limping innings was all that could be constructed.
Only Saxon (34) offered serious resistance as, albeit in slow tempo, Burgh claimed the park wickets. Vice-captain Phil Sharp was the pcik of the Burgh attack with four for 21.
Needing only 106 for victory, Burgh managed to make heavy weather of the task, in part due to the persistance of the Brocklesby bowlers. Beacock removed both openers, Pearce for 21, setting a standard for his fellows.
Their enthusiasm ensured that the visitors could only stumble forward, losing batsmen to indiscretions.
Eventually though, driven by an unbeaten 34 from keeper Richard Hill, the finishing line was crossed, much to sighs of relief from the Burgh contingent.
