Thursday - FOLLOWING on from their successes in the Lincs Minileague last year, a new look Alford U12s took to the astro with a vengeance last Sunday at their first tournament of the season.
Alford and District U12s Hockey Team

The first match saw Alford go head to head with Long Sutton. Alford started really well with a series of attacks giving Lewis Reeson a much deserved first goal.

However, the more experienced Long Sutton rallied and despite some sterling defence from Barnaby Simms won the match 3-1.

Having put the disappointment of the first match behind them Alford started their second game against Leadenham with renewed vigour.

Good midfield interplay by Maisie and Sally Golsboro and Kelly Le'Gate set up the forwards to score 6 excellent goals.

Lewis adding 2 more goals to his tally and new boys Zak Le'Gate and Cameron Foster also scoring twice. The final score was 6-0.

The last match was a closer affair against Sleaford seeing some hard fought end to end play.

The team applauded some unselfish play by Cameron which set up another 2 goals for Lewis. Zak also scored again. With the team tiring Sam Hanwell showed some superb goalkeeping skills by deflecting a series of shots to keep his team in front.

His second successive clean sheet of the tournament leading to a 3-0 win.

Barnaby Simms was Alford's 'man of the match' for being consistently solid in defence.

The team were: Sam Hanwell, Barnaby Simms, Maisie Golsboro, Sally Golsboro, Kelly Le'Gate, Lewis Reeson, Cameron Foster and Zak Le'Gate.
