A GREEN-fingered couple from Spilsby celebrated their diamond wedding with family and friends recently.
Sid and Nancy Morris, both 79, of Woodlands Avenue, Spilsby, received a telegram from the Queen as they celebrated 60 years of marriage on Thursday, June 11.

Mr Morris, born in Newark and Mrs Morris, born in West Ashby, near Horncastle, marked their anniversary with a blessing at St Helen's Church, East Keal, officiated by the Rev Adrian Sullivan.

The couple met at a dance class in Sausthorpe when they were 15 and married at St Helen's Church on June 11, 1949.

Mr Morris said: "My wife and I never have an argument. We discuss everything around the table and she is wonderful."

Mrs Morris added: "Every day he tells me he loves me. Life is good and we get on well together."

Mr Morris worked on a farm in Partney for most of his life but has spent the last 20 years helping people with learning difficulties at Toynton Hall and in Grimsby.

Mrs Morris used to be a dinner lady at Eresby Special School and retired 10 years ago.

They have four sons, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who surprised the couple with a party at the Victory Hall in Partney.

Mr Morris said the couple have a passion for gardening and wildlife. He added: "It's her garden and I'm just her helper.

"We enjoy bird watching and through the history society like old buildings and abbeys."
