EDITOR - What has happened to the standard which belongs to the old members of the Skegness Combined Services Association?
This standard was originally purchased by Mr John Harriet along with gloves and carrying belt at a cost of over £1,000.
I, as one of the foudner members of the association, was privileged to be allowed to be the standard bearer when it was presented to us by Winston Churchill’s granddaughter at the old Festival Hall.
It is felt by a number of old members of the association, including Mr Harriet, that this Standard should be laid up in church in memory of our comrades, who gave the great sacrifice.
It has been said that it has been given to the Viking School, but whether this is true we are not sure.
Perhaps someone could shed some light on its whereabouts.
